assistance in keeping the updates as current as possible would be
appreciated. Notification of any additional real ale premises is
helpful, but a completed "survey" will enable us to fully update the
website, and the Branches premises records. Click onto the "Survey
Form" link at the bottom of this page to access a form. This can either be printed off for
completion and forwarding to the Editor, or completed and submitted on
line. To notify changes and corrections to premises or breweries already recorded, please email details. Notes to assist in completing the Survey Form. Location: This is the town, village, hamlet etc in which the premises is located and which is part of the address. Secondary Location: This should be used to give directions when premises are “off the beaten track” in rural locations, or “hidden away” in town locations. Where relevant an OS reference should be used. Premises name: Enter full name, including individual bar names where used i.e. Castle Inn (Lakers Bar). Address: Enter full postal address, including the post code. Telephone number: Please check, and enter full number including the area code. Website or email address: If a website address available then omit an email address. Opening hours: Enter times for each day. Note any seasonal differences i.e. “Winter” and “Summer”, “Bank Holidays” etc. Regular Cask Beers: Enter up to five regularly available beers, stating Brewery and beer name. If there are changing guests, then enter numbers i.e. “2 changing guests”. Enter number of Handpumps in use as a check against the number of beers recorded. State if there are seasonal variations i.e. “2 changing guests—Summer only”. If the premises offers more than five regular cask beers, add a comment in the "Premises description" i.e. "upto 9 cask beers regularly available". Premises description: Give details of lay-out, number of bars etc. character, interesting aspects (historical, décor, etc.), games, i.e. anything that paints a picture for the visitor. If hot meals provided state whether in bar and/or separate restaurant . State if food is “themed” i.e. “local produce” “Italian bias” etc. and if availability restricted to certain days/times. Facilities: A "click" in the appropriate “Yes” or “No” box is all that is required. Real Fire: Does the premises have an open coal or log fire, which is used usually through the winter months. DO NOT INCLUDE LOG OR COAL EFFECT GAS FIRES. Quiet: Is the premises generally quiet. A very low level of background music is acceptable, providing it does not require normal conversation level to be increased. No TV’s, electronic machines etc. Families welcome: Children in the control of adults, allowed onto the premises. This may be restricted to taking meals, and there may be a curfew time. State any restrictions in "Additional Information/Comments". Outdoor drinking area: This may vary from a garden to a bench on the pavement. State in “Additional Information/Comments" if this is used predominantly as an alterative smoking area. Accommodation: State number of letting rooms. Lunchtime meals: Not snacks, but substantial fare Evening meals: As for Lunchtime meals. Wheelchair facilities: Add note in “Premises description” whether full facilities (toilet and access etc.) or partial (access only). Camping/caravanning: Facilities available within I mile of premises. Public transport: Station or bus stop within reasonable walking distance. Real cider: Real draught cider available on hand-pump or gravity. Own Car Park: If there is only limited space state in “Additional Information/Comments". Separate covered smoking area: Is there a designated covered smoking area. Oversize glasses: Used for all or most beers. Guide dogs only: If the premises are “dog friendly” mark as “No” i.e. not restricted to “Guide dogs only”. Add a "dog friendly" comment in the "Premises description". 2+ different Cumbrian brewery beers: Are the premises committed to having beers from at least two different Cumbrian breweries regularly available. |
